Nashvan provides globalization services on linguist objects,
including software, website, marketing documentation, organizational
documentation, among others.
Globalization is the process of making linguistic objects applicable
worldwide. It usually involves processes of localization and
internationalization. When an organization is expanding
internationally, it becomes a mandate to adapt its management
processes and the supporting infrastructures to a global platform.
|
To certain extend, globalization is similar to localization. It
needs to consider cultural, social, political, religious, and
demographic issues around the world, which in general greatly
influence the applications of a linguist object.
|
|
| On
the other hand, globalization is different from localization in that
it takes away from the original linguistic objects any
cultural-sensitive terms or cultural-specific expressions and
replaces them with generic ones so that it is more suitable for the
international settings.
To illustrate Nashvan's typical
process for globalization services, the following is an example for
the globalization of an International Document.
A. Preliminary Evaluation
We perform preliminary evaluation on the existing objects to
determine to what extend it would be appropriate for international
application, how much of it needs to be reprocessed, and whether a
group session with the original writers, editors, artists, etc. is
necessary to gather background information and/or documents.
B. Documentation Preparation
At this stage, we work with our clients to create documents that are
understandable and clear to international audiences. International
issues in content, syntax, design and graphics are identified and
ambiguities are minimized in to avoid rework and extra costs.
C. Group training
We provide group training before and during the projects when
necessary. The main purposes are to raise the awareness of
international issues, ensure efficient communication and common
understanding of all aspects of the project on hand, and
familiarize the team with relevant work processes and strategies.
D. Review and Quality Assurances
See Quality Assurance processes in Flowchart.
